VPN software, licenses and tools

The Viprinet technology offers a number of functions that provide decisive advantages for various special applications. On this page you will find information about all software licenses developed for Multichannel VPN Routers and Hubs.

Viprinet VPN Client

The Viprinet VPN Client is the ideal complement to your Multichannel VPN Router. With this software solution you are able to provide home office users and field staff with protected and encrypted access to company resources and to easily integrate their PCs into your VPN structure.

Secure Encryption

A virtual network card is created by the Viprinet VPN Client in the user's PC. Via this virtual device either a selection or all of the user's IP connections can now be securely tunneled to the VPN Hub (the router at the company's headquarters or data center). Authentication and encryption is done using the industry standard SSL in combination with high-end 256 bit AES encryption.

Bonding and network handover

The Viprinet VPN Client is the only product on the market that allows the simultaneous use of two different Internet access methods. Just like the Multichannel VPN Router, the client can use these two interfaces/modems bundled. This is a great advantage in mobile usage scenarios: On a notebook computer WLAN hotspots and LTE/4G/5G connectivity can be used in parallel as long as they are available. If one of the two connections fails (e.g. because the user leaves the hotspot area), the VPN connectivity is not interrupted, but only the total available bandwidth is reduced by the amount of the channel that is no longer available.

Excellent usability

VPN clients are often seen by their users as complex and unintuitive. The Viprinet VPN client, however, offers an unsurpassed user experience. A clear and friendly designed user interface makes dialing into the corporate VPN an easy task even for computer novices. The integrated graphical monitoring provides a comfortable overview of connection performance data and used bandwidth.

Centralized administration

The VPN hub router, to which the VPN clients connect, is used for the central administration of all clients. Within the Multichannel VPN Router the VPN clients form a dedicated IP subnet that allows the configuration of specific routes and QoS settings. The routing settings used by the clients are also configured at the VPN Hub - the administrator can decide whether all Internet traffic or only IP traffic from/to specific networks is routed through the VPN tunnel. For advanced client users, the VPN Hub administrator can optionally allow the user to override these settings and define their own routing settings.

Convenient and flexible licensing options

The Viprinet VPN Client may be freely copied to client computers without the need for registration or license activation on these computers. This makes it easy to deploy the client even with a high number of users (which can optionally be fully automated). Instead, license management is done on the VPN Hub router that the clients connect to. Additional blocks of named-user licenses can be added to a VPN Hub at any time during operation.

Cost Effectiveness

The Viprinet VPN Client is licensed at extremely competitive conditions. The licenses can be purchased for single users or in discounted bulk quantities. Additional client licenses for a router can be purchased and added at any time. The transfer of activated client licenses bound to one VPN Hub can be transferred to another VPN Hub at any time.

Compatibility

Currently, the VPN Client is available for Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 operating systems. Administrator rights are required for the installation. After installation, however, it can also be used with limited user accounts.

Streaming Optimization

The standard bonding procedure of a Viprinet router is designed to ensure that all data reaches its destination without packet loss, with the highest possible bandwidths and low latencies. For interactive applications like telephony, video conferencing or broadcasting, the quality can never be good enough. The Streaming Optimization license unlocks a number of optional router features to optimize these lossless, low-latency applications. This includes a more advanced forward error correction algorithm.

A license key must be purchased for each hub that uses appropriately optimized tunnels and for each node that uses such tunnels.

Hub Tunnel Segmentation

This feature enables virtualization of several different networks on a single VPN hub, enabling multi-tenant facilities where multiple customers can even share the same private IP address space without IP address conflicts. Hub tunnel segmentation allows one or more tunnels to be placed in a dedicated segment, similar to how VLANs work in the LAN world. Using RuggedVPN firmware, hub tunnel segmentation also allows multiple VLANs to pass through a single VPN tunnel and map those VLANs to VLANs on another tunnel.

License keys must be purchased for VPN hubs only; for Multichannel VPN Routers this feature is neutral. No license key is required here.

Node Stacking

Viprinet's node stacking allows coupling several Multichannel VPN Routers to a virtual superrouter, which manages the bandwidth of the WAN connections of all coupled devices. The node stacking network is controlled by a fixed router, the master. If the master itself fails, another Multichannel VPN Router takes over its role within a few seconds. If a slave fails, only the bandwidth is reduced.

All in all, Viprinet software licenses for node stacking and hub redundancy in combination with the use of different WAN media (wired / wireless, different technologies, different providers) enable an Internet connection with a maximum annual availability of more than 99.9%. Coupled routers can be devices from different series; the strongest device in the network should be the master.

Enterprise Node Features

This license for Viprinet routers enables several functions:

  • Remote management of WAN module performance (for example 4G signal strength) via SNMP
  • Routing of VLANs from the LAN through a VPN tunnel, as a complement to the Hub Tunnel Segmentation feature
  • Dynamic routing: OSPF/BGP

Traffic Accounting

The Viprinet Traffic Accounting System collects data sent by Multichannel VPN Hubs. This way the data volumes can be analyzed. For ISPs this system is suitable for billing the traffic volume of rental customers, for larger companies it can be used to analyze the data volume of individual branches.

A comfortable, web-based administration tool offers all functions for managing and evaluating the data traffic. It is also possible to define threshold values and limit values per customer. If these are exceeded, the customer is notified by e-mail. The Traffic Accounting System is delivered in PHP source code. A site license is valid for all hubs in a data center.
