With the hot-plug modules you can equip your Multichannel VPN Router with any combination of modem types to fully utilize all locally available access media. 

The hotplug modules

For 15 years now, we have been continuously developing new hotplug modules that allow Viprinet routers to be upgraded to the latest broadband technologies. While competing routers quickly become obsolete, our devices are constantly being rejuvenated. This saves the environment, nerves and the wallet.

Hot plugging means that you can add or replace modules while the router is in operation, without interrupting the ongoing data transmissions from clients within the LAN.

Different types of modules are available depending on the type of Internet access to be used. The selection of modules offered by Viprinet is continuously extended. This way your investment in our routers is secured - should new forms of Internet access become available on the fast changing access market, you can flexibly convert your router to these new technologies at any time.
For Internet access technologies that are currently not covered by one of our hot-plug modules, there is the Gigabit Ethernet module, which allows you to integrate all kinds of external modems into the network controlled by your Multichannel VPN Router.

Gigabit Ethernet Module

The Gigabit Ethernet module can be used to connect to various forms of Internet access. External modems can be connected to it to become part of the Multichannel VPN Router's channel bundling system. Among others, SDSL modems, fixed line access routers and WiFi routers are supported.

4.5G LTE-A Europe/Americas

With the 4.5G LTE-A Europe/Americas hotplug module, LTE-Advanced can be used with any modular Viprinet Multichannel VPN Router. LTE-Advanced is a further development of the mobile phone standard LTE (4G) and enables significantly higher data transfer rates. The 4.5G LTE-A Europe/ Americas hotplug module achieves data rates of up to 300 Mbps - a download three times faster than with previous 4G modules.

With additional support for the UMTS / 3G mobile communications standard, this module enables uninterrupted mobile data connections and is therefore particularly suitable for mobile computing and networks with large data volumes. The transition between different mobile phone standards is seamless and the best available connection is always used.

The scope of delivery includes two high-quality folding antennas for mobile communications and a small antenna base. Two SMA sockets on each module allow an external MIMO antenna to be connected to the module. This allows good mobile radio connections to be realized even under the most difficult reception conditions.

Please note: LTE uses different radio frequency bands depending on the country. This module supports only the LTE frequency bands commonly used in Europe and North America. When selecting an external antenna, please ensure that it supports both the LTE and UMTS frequency bands used. 

4.5G/GPS LTE-A Europe/Americas

With the 4.5G/GPS LTE-A Europe/America's hotplug module, LTE-Advanced can be used with any modular Viprinet Multichannel VPN Router. LTE-Advanced is a further development of the mobile phone standard LTE (4G) and enables significantly higher data transfer rates. The 4.5G/GPS LTEA Europe/America's hotplug module achieves data rates of up to 300 Mbps - a download three times faster than with previous 4G modules.

With the additional support of the UMTS / 3G mobile phone standard, this module enables uninterrupted mobile data connections and is therefore particularly suitable for mobile computing and networks with large data volumes. The transition between different mobile phone standards is seamless and the best available connection is always used. Since the module supports the satellite systems GPS, Glonass, Beidou and Galileo, the router can be located at any time, which is very useful for efficient vehicle fleet management, for example.

The 4.5G LTEA Asia/Pacific hotplug module reaches data rates of up to 300 Mbps - three times faster download than with previous 4G modules.

With the additional support of the UMTS / 3G mobile phone standard, this module offers uninterrupted mobile data connections and is therefore particularly suitable for mobile computing and networks with large data volumes. The transition between different mobile phone standards is seamless and the best available connection is always used.

VDSL2/ADSL2+

This integrated modem hot-plug module has been designed to connect directly to your xDSL/phone splitter box - an external xDSL modem is no longer required. This saves effort and power; in addition, the router can directly control the chipset of the integrated modem and thus achieves optimized performance - even fully loaded lines remain low-latency, which is particularly advantageous for VoIP applications. With the VDSL2 profile 30a, our modem module supports symmetrical VDSL speeds of up to 100 Mbps for downstream and upstream. Furthermore, it is downward compatible and can therefore be used with ADSL connections.

802.11 B/G/N WLAN-Client

The 802.11 B/G/N WLAN CLIENT module enables all modular Viprinet Multichannel VPN Routers to use an already existing WLAN infrastructure. WLAN is a mobile radio standard that supports higher bandwidths than mobile radio and is therefore often used when wired networks are not or only with difficulty accessible. With this module an existing WLAN infrastructure can be added as a binding medium for the first time. This allows mobile data and WLAN connections to be combined to form a highly reliable connection, e.g. at events or in public buses.

This module supports the 2.4 GHz standard and can contribute up to 150 Mbps to a bonding connection. Via two SMA sockets, this module can be connected to an external MIMO antenna, so that sufficient reception is guaranteed even under difficult conditions.

Coming soon: The new 5G module

Starting Q1/21 you can upgrade your Viprinet router to the next level of mobile broadband technology. The upcoming 5G NR Sub-6 GHz module is designed for today's and upcoming 5G networks, for which a downlink speed of up to 5.5 Gbps and an uplink speed of 3 Gbps is advertised. It supports the mixed-mode combination of LTE+5G networks in use today and can also support pure 4G networks. The high number of 5G and LTE bands supported makes the module suitable for use in both Europe and North America. Versions for other regions will follow.

The module will be equipped with the standard Viprinet hotplug module connector. When used in existing modular Viprinet routers, it will be able to provide "real" 250 Mbps, which is largely in line with what is actually expected in 5G networks today. It also features a secondary hot-plug connector, which will be used in future router models. This will enable the module to deliver speeds in excess of 1 Gbps as soon as pure 5G networks support this with higher frequency bands.
